At the heart of PCM Group lives the vision of one man: Late Punam Chand Mittal, an inspirational leader who first charted the course of PCM Group. He was born in year 1931 in Rajasthan. Success and fortune did not come easily to him. Initiative, resourcefulness and hard work, combined with the capability to face and overcome the most overwhelming odds can best characterize this phenomenal entrepreneur.
He left Rajasthan in 1946 at a tender age of 15 years to seek his fortune in North Bengal. He started his career working as an employee in a Private firm. A quick learner, he did not restrict his efforts to fulfilling the job description but sought and shouldered additional responsibilities. Later he started working with the Indian Air Force as a Defense contractor. The diligence, enthusiasm and intelligence displayed by him attracted people. During 1971 war he was awarded Gold medal by Army for his outstanding performance. With vision and imagination in year 1975 he established two P.C.C. Electric Pole factories. Late Punam Chand Mittal was a devoted social worker, an ace businessman and a great patriot. He was a man of integrity.
In the Dooars and adjoining areas, Punam Chand Mittal devoted his entire life for the well being of people. He always had an inbuilt desire to do something for the local inhabitants, which led him to play an active role in the development of education in the Dooars region. He strived to fulfill his social responsibility towards the society by building bridges and dam for the benefit of the people at Jaldhaka, in the district of Jalpaiguri. His contribution in the growth of Education for the tribal and backward class is widely acknowledged even today. His far sightedness, courage and firm determination has led the PCM Group to the heights of success in Various Ventures. |
